Yamaha’s Latest Engine Technology for the Magnum Series

New Yamaha F350 V6 outboard engine and Buster SuperMagnum aluminium powerboat

The 2025 Buster Magnum open-boat series is now available with Yamaha's cutting-edge V6 outboard engines. These advanced engines introduce fully Digital Electric Steering (DES) as an option, enabling compatibility with Yamaha's Helm Master EX system. This includes joystick control and integration with a bow thruster, significantly simplifying maneuvering in harbor environments.

Advanced Engines for Performance and Efficiency

The 2025 models of Buster Magnum feature Yamaha's next-generation 4.2L V6 engines. The Magnum comes with a maximum Yamaha F250 engine, while the SuperMagnum is paired with the Yamaha F350 engine. These high-performance engines enhance the boats’ capabilities, particularly under heavy loads, while still maintaining excellent fuel efficiency thanks to modern engine technology.

  • Buster Magnum with Yamaha F250: Optimal cruising speeds of 22–28 knots with a fuel consumption of about 1 liter per nautical mile. Top speed: ~47 knots.
  • Buster SuperMagnum with Yamaha F350: Optimal cruising speeds of 18–30 knots with a fuel consumption below 1.2 liters per nautical mile. Top speed: ~52 knots.

Robust and Timeless Design

The latest Buster Magnum, measuring 7.2 meters, represents the fifth generation of this iconic series and accommodates up to eight passengers. First introduced in 1990, the Magnum remains a favorite among large open boats in the Nordic region. The larger SuperMagnum, introduced in 2013, is in its third generation, offering a 7.4-meter length and seating for up to ten passengers.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Features

Both models include hydraulic steering as standard, with the option to upgrade to Yamaha's Digital Electric Steering (DES). This setup unlocks the full potential of the Helm Master EX system, which offers:

  • Joystick Control: For intuitive low-speed maneuvering.
  • SetPoint Features: Automatic positioning capabilities for precise control.
  • Auto-Pilot Integration: Simplifies navigation on longer journeys.

The Helm Master EX system can seamlessly integrate with Sleipner’s variable-speed bow thruster, providing comprehensive joystick control for both the outboard engine and the bow thruster.

Enhanced Handling with New Engine Features

  • Thrust Enhancing Reverse Exhaust (TERE): Keeps exhaust gases away from the propeller in reverse, improving handling.
  • TotalTilt: Allows for quick and easy engine tilting up or down with a double-press of the trim button.

These innovative features improve overall usability, making the 2025 Buster Magnum series an ideal choice for both seasoned mariners and newcomers alike.
